NLDS Malaysia 2007 Sharing…
On the 5th-9th December , 4 delegates from Singapore namely, YunZhou, Yi Zhen, Ruby and I had joined an extraordinary conference in University of Malaya(UM), Malaysia. Guess what, it was our first ever international experience as well as NLDS. Woo!!! It was great, especially so when I myself who is a Malaysian joined the event as international delegate.
Something really unexpected had already happened even before we left for KL. Just for your info, Ruby is from NUS and she just finished her final exam the morning on the day we are leaving for KL. And she actually left her passport in the hostel and find out about it just minutes before we left for custom. So we just have to delay our schedule. And so the story begins…
It took us 5 hours to KL and I really ‘enjoyed’ the bus ride very much. Thanks to the ‘very comfortable’ massaging seat on the bus. We had reach there one day before the conference. We are not the only one arriving the day before the conference, in fact, there are a few LCs had reached there few days earlier for their pre-NLDS to better prepare their members for the real NLDS.
Having dinner cum supper at one of the cafeteria in UM (from left: Ruby, Yi Zhen and YunZhou) Well, I’m never attend anything these massive before. Imagine you are joining an event run by youths and participate by more than 500 delegates. What a number! Almost 5 times the delegate we had in NLDS Singapore. The ambience outside the plenary was amazing before everyone enters. Everybody was so excited and chants from different LCs can be heard all the way into the plenary. I guess it was that kind spirit and passion that kept all the organization alive and thriving success after success.
Some facts, that I found out during the 5 days in Malaysia. It serves the purpose like the Jumpstart we had in Singapore. It aims to let their members know more about AIESEC, eg. What is AIESEC, what we do and so on. This is because some of the delegates are very new to the organization and they joined the conference through invitation by friends.

Terrible condition in the hostel… Imagine you gotta stay there for 5 days…
Opening Plenary (Imagine you are one of them…)
The people there are so passion and they put in so much effort to make this event a successful one. The external sessions are very interesting whereby it was attended by Loreal, Gen

YunZhou couldn’t hold on anymore… : P
After the daylong training and learning, its time to PARTY!!! Yea, we have party almost every night. Everybody was dancing and dancing. And it was a great opportunity to make new friends and of course learn some new dances… I enjoyed it very much because I like to dance. There are 2 theme parties going on. The 1st one was themed ‘Back to school’ where everyone was asked to dress in their school uniform. And you will realized how diverse the culture of the people just from their school uniform.
Ever mass dance in your school uniform before? It feels good… ( DJ of the night, Nick. The guy in green.)

Facis leading the dance.. (top left: Alan, our NLDS Chair)
And you’ll get so tired after all night long, where you are sitting at your place hoping the time to pass, so that you can go back and rest. But the others are just so excited and energetic where they keep on dancing.

The 2nd party was themed ‘ Mad Hat party’ where everyone must wear a hat. Not necessary the conventional one. It’s all up to you! Yea, and you can see so many funky hats with different accessories. There were even some guys who wear shower cap with facial mask…
Lets see if you recognize the guy with the white hat… Yes, he is David with his funky hat!
Besides all the fun part, there are also times for serious stuffs. And one of it which I personally like the most is the LCP election simulation where members are able to experience the process to be elected as LCP. I’ve tried my luck in that event but I failed. The better one wins after all. Yet, I’ve learn so much from the simulation. I realized my weakness in public speaking and so on. It was a wonderful experience for me.
The LCP candidates are waiting for the result to be announced… Waters awaiting them…
4 ‘wet’ newly elected LCPs!!!
It was really to say goodbye to everyone during the last day, when all of us are going to go separate ways and get busy with our own stuff. None of us are sure, either any of us will be meeting again in the near future. Everything was in doubt and no one is able to give a definite answer. Though my group which called ourselves as ‘Magnetic Maggots’ who won the best group award had made a promise among ourselves that we will meet again next year in NLDS Malaysia. But no one was sure about the promise. But I will join again if I’m allowed too, for it means something special to me.
One sentence says it all – I am an AIESECer!!!
And I’m PROUD to being one!!!
Before I end this sharing, I would like to pay some tribute to these 2 guys who really help us, the Singapore delegates a lot after NLDS. It was them who help us with all our problems and let me realized once again that people do cares, even if we are different in many ways but there is one important thing that join us together, which is the only thing that matters – AIESEC. Thanks for all the opportunity.

Good Samaritans – Raj (1st right), Kemal (2nd right)Just a personal note : It was drizzling when we took this picture in front of KLCC… So romantic…

What was this? It was our post exam party in Yunnan Corner last Friday night! Thanks to PD's effort, we had a lot of Fs there: Fun, Food and Familiar faces!! Let the pictures say a thousand words~~~
Guest of Honor: Prof Hooi (our teacher advisor)
Mayas, Trainee from Japan, Aman, Sharon and Rina
Delicous Food!
Do not forget those who work at the back! haha, Lan was said to be the BBQ queen that night!
I am not so excited about gossips as Alvin and Wan Xin are. However, there are really some nice pictures to show you~~ who is the one behind Li Shuai? who is talking to Jun Ming? Who is enjoying the conversation with Rickie?
WOW!!! Here are the answers! Judging from their smile, they were having a good time, heehee
Get sick of gossips? Ok, let me show you the real case!Sweet!!
At the end of the party, Rickie was the lucky one to get the chance to compare the taste of Heineken and the taste of the water in Nanyang Lake.
Cheers
