NTU 1st LC Gathering and InsightXP and Welcome Dinner

The dance culture is back!!

And I am so proud that the newbies are very energetic and enthusiastic to learn new things. Most importantly, they are open to lotsa different new things that we provide. They are not afraid to ask *even for a treat..haha

Our first NTU LC Gathering kicked off with sharing from AIESEC International Congress'06 and You Can'06 too.

Again, it brings back the memories and those butterflies and indescribable emotions within me. The pictures that I showed reminded me of the GREAT times there, the people that I met, the stories and jokes that we shared, the stupid little things that we did, the games and tricks that we played to entertain ourselves and made the others look foolish *muahaha*...

As Dei, AIESEC in NTU LCP 05/06 put it, one of the negative effects of international conference is that you will never get enough of it, you will be addicted and crave for more. That is SO TRUE!! The international conference opens up a whole new horizon and lotsa new opportunities in life that you will never thought of.

To sum up, I'll quote Dei's presentation:
“The Quality of Life depends on what happens in the space between stimulus and response”

After the sharing, we spent 2.5 hours at NTU Library to do our InsightXP test. It was pretty fun, at least for me, to look at the members and how they do their best to finish it. Well, two thumbs up shall be given to you all and the EBs as well as the seniors who were there to guide them through. Arigatouu....

To add up, there will be prizes given out to the first 5 members who finish the InsightXP test and send it to our dear Hon Gen Sec, Chris Chan. Remember the deadline is Oct 10th k. Two of them had managed to finish everything in around two hours *woo hoo...I spent more than that man!! Will post their names when we have all 5 winners.

After the test, we went down to Lau Pa Sat for our Welcome Dinner. Welcoming the trainees:
Adam Hall - New Zealand, Matthias - Germany and Jorn - The Netherlands.

It was a BIG Welcome Dinner. More than 30 people were there and the satay vendors even kicked us away as we were too busy chatting up and took away their business by sitting way too long *haha..sorry ar.

Yeah..and David won the Toastmaster Club award for the best humorous speech
*woo hoo....we can have a Canadian standing-comedian here in Singapore

The night was too young for some of us, so we decided that we should go for another chill-out session at Esplanade. Spent some time at one of the bars that provides life music, it was a very fortunate experience for me to be able to know and meet people, to get to know the newbies more, to observe these people and to know that...hey, this is one of the reasons why I stay in @: The PEOPLE...The PEOPLE who rock.

Nice conversations, nice jokes, nice travelling trips, nice ideas and stories, accompanied with nice people...what else can I say but I Love Every Single Bit of My Day Today.

Ah, they have a great Malay band who sings acapella songs. From English, Chinese to Malay, where else in Singapore you get free entertainment ^.* Nice band: Juz be.

Great to have you all in my life!!
I do..I really do *.0

JUMPSTART! 06

This year is about making the necessary CHANGES.
Changes are the only constant, and to move forward change is certainly inevitable.

Therefore, we scrapped AIESEC Recruitment Orientation Camp and came up with JUMPSTART! instead. It's our annual National Induction Conference brought up by the MC 06/07.

JUMPSTART! 06 theme was Envision, Explore, Experience. It was held at Sembawang Boys' Brigade Camp from 9-10th September. From AIESEC knowledge-sharing sessions, teambonding sessions, world-issues discussions, to our own AIESEC party, I enjoy the whole thing. Even when we have to stay late on Friday [well, some of us slept at 5.45am though] ... it's great to be able to share with the rest.

JUMPSTART! 06 was chaired by David Liem from Canada who is currently working at Adam Khoo, I think he managed everything well. He has the charm too!! Facis came from MCs, seniors and alumnis. The EBs were there to assist the juniors too. Not to forget that JUMPSTART! wouldn't be possible if the OC wasn't there in the very first place. Well, my real two thumbs up for you all. Thank you so muchhhh..... *hugz
Woo hoo....we rock the house!!!

Rows and rows of newbies...and seniors *in green JUMPSTART! tee ...

Seniors cum EBs cum energizer *great job!!

So, here comes the testimonials from our dear NTU newbies... you guys really awed me with your energy and enthusiasm *grin*. Hope this lasts guys!!

It's all about the people, the people, and the people you know in AIESEC. I was still in the transition stage of adaptation since I came to Singapore just a month ago. However, the positive spirit in AIESEC made me attracted to become a part of them. The Jump-Start National Induction Conference was the first great platform for me to discover what I can benefit the best from AIESEC. I am encouraged and motivated by them.
By the way I wanna buy second AIESEC T-shirt...
[Boon-Ming]

Although it was physically tiring for me, but mentally I was very satisfied . The camp gave us a lot of great values of life, friendship and new experiences. In addition, I also 'challenge' myself in the JUMPSTART night. AIESEC Rockzz the house!!
[Nathan Boenjamin]

Hi, just wanted to thank the committee for Jumpstart - in a way, it's helps me in reflecting what I wanted and helping me know more about AIESEC. I also enjoyed the dances that you all had, it shows how energizing and dynamic this organisation really is. ...
[Nicholas Ong]

So, thank you for your inputs and let's aim for a better one next year.
My sincere thanks to everyone for your hardwork!!
Let's bring @ in Singapore to a greater height.

Take care....and yeah, we miss the @ers from NUS and SMU *wink wink

My first AIESEC Intenational Congress'06

If you asked me how was my first International Congress?...
Ehm...give me the world's best dictionary and find me the best word that is even greater than AWESOME...
That would be my answer!!

I departed to Poland with Phoebe on 17th September by FinnAir. The other four: Sharon, Jing Wen, Adam and Sherina departed the same evening by KLM and had a stopover at Amsterdam. Imran joined us on 19th.

Phoebe and I travelled by ourselves in Warsaw on the first day. From finding the underground METRO, strolling at Old Town, having early dinner of delicious home-made pizza, losing our way to the hostel, getting to know how to use the public phone, and finally to finding the direction to the places using our intuition. This was a superb experience. It's tiring but it's FUN FUN FUN.

On our second day, we went to join the study tour to Gdansk. Joining us were delegates from Hong Kong, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Malta, Korea, Switzerland, Panama, Germany, Poland, Bahrain, Canada, and not-to-be-missed Singapore. We had so much fun together. From a smooth journey to a breakdown bus, from bread to a nice Kashubian dinner, from Old towns to castle and concentration camp, from party to party....we conquered all!!

But...at the other side of the country, the rest of the Spore delegates went to Krakow with the Malaysian delegates. Surprisingly, they met Brodie [the tall guy at the bottom left pic], the President of AIESEC International 05/06 at Warsaw Old Town.

Well, International Congress encompasses everything. From play, fun, work, discussion, passion, commitment, willingness to learn and explore, challenge, hard-work, patience, diversity and so on... we HAD it all.

There were 570 delegates from 95 countries and territories. 200 externals from the corporate. AIESEC International and facilitators and congress committee that are up to 100ppl.

It was a BLAST!!

Fun time working together...

Global Village that is HUGE and open to public. The best Global Village that I ever participated. It is also my first time wearing Malay's baju kebaya and I like it...

Kaya is in the house. Too bad we do not have a toaster or else we would have open a Kaya toast stall. Uniquely Singapore fan is one of the faves too.

Living in diversity, enjoying participation, activating leadership, demonstrating integrity, acting sustainably and striving for excellence....our AIESEC values. We LIVE 'em all!!

UBS Gala Dinner at the largest Theatre Hall in Poland. You guys are gorgeous!

There is always time for candid pictures. Crazyness is in our blood!! *yeay...

My 1st IC hopefully will not be my last IC. For those who were not there, you got the chance..It's up to you now. But I can ensure you that it is going to rock you life...well, at least IC ROCKS mine.

Ow yeah...one more thing, post-conference down syndrome is still ON.

Missing IC and the people terribly *hiks hiks
