CHERRIES 2007 - Global Village and Kick–off Invitation

Hey AIESEC NTU,

Here is an invitation from LC UTM in Johor Barhru, Malaysia, for their charity project on Aug 5

Kindly drop alvin an email at alvin.hong@aiesec.net if you are interested.

The CHERRIES project was initiated in 2004 to raise awareness among students and public on the issue of disability. During the project we have several highlight events, among them the Kick-off & Global Village, Road shows and the CHERRIES Camp.

The first upcoming event, the Kick-off & Global Village on the 5th of August, will mark the official start of CHERRIES 2007. The Global Village features a great emphasis on cultural and educational exchange among targeted participants, mainly students, NGOs and the public while presenting timely important facts and data on the issue of disabilities of today. In conjunction with our theme “Crossing Borders for the Disabled”, we are very fortunate to have eight ambassadors who cross their borders (Korea, Egypt, India, Hong Kong and the Netherlands) to Malaysia in facilitating this Global Village. The main objectives of the Kick-off & Global Village event considered:

Official start of our campaign to create awareness in public on the issue of disability
To bring together different organizations related to disability and discuss on possible contributions and synergies
To get youths and public to fully understand the mindset, thoughts and feeling of the disabled as it is not their choice to be disable
To promote cultural and educational understanding between local- and international students on this issue

Herewith, AIESEC UTM would like to invite AIESEC NTU Singapore to attend this important Kick-off & Global Village event. The event will be held at the sight of Johore Cheshire Home on August 5, 2007 (Sunday), starting at 9:00 and official opening at 12:00. There is no admittance fee for this event.

We hope to welcome representatives, residents and other relatives at the Kick-off & Global Village in order to show their commitment to the issue of disability and with that help us to make a positive impact in society.

Thank you for your kind attention and have a pleasant day.

Yours service of AIESEC,
Doria Abdullah
